Oh see, now this is pretty exciting! Who doesn’t love a well dressed man? H-h-h-ot! As you all know, Net a Porter is one of my fave shopping sites, tons of high end designer threads, shoes, bags, and more for all of us fashionistas. But until now, they’ve never really considered a menswear department. Until Natalie Massenet that is. (more…)
So Tom Ford has opened up a flagship store for menswear on Madison Avenue….
Ok fashionista’s, I KNOW this is old news, but listen up.
If you were thinking that Tom Ford, the former Gucci God was developing a niche brand for New Yorkers alone, WRONG. It has only been a couple of months since the gala flagship three-story store opened up on Madison Avenue, and he has just revealed that his company is turning into a global label.
Not surprising that the mastermind behind Gucci all these years would go international, now, is it?
Currently plans are in the works to open up four more stores over three years. Guess where, that’s right, International Fashoin Meccas – Milan, London, L.A., and Hawaii. Beyond that Tom sees about 100 retail stores over the next 10 years.
There is hushed talk about who is franchising partners are, but the Tom Ford Menswear collection is going to select luxury retail partners in the US and Europe and you can expect to see a decent spring line in 2008.
Other cities targeted for flagship stores include: Moscow, Zurich, St. Moritz, Hong Kong, Beijing, Kuwait, Dubai, and Qatar. L.A. and Hawaii stores are expected to be fully functioning by 2010.
But he is not just a Menswear man, no. In 2005 Ford established a licensing deal with Estee Lauder to create Tom Ford Beauty. Here is a beauty and fragrance collection that debuted in November 2006 with his first women’s fragrance – Tom Ford Black Orchid. Have you tried it? Stunning. In April of this year, the unisex line came out called Tom Ford Private Blend, and you can expect to see a men’s cologne this September.
Next on his list, as if he is not busy enough, is optical frames and sunglasses with the Zegna Group. If you own a pair of Gucci shades you can expect to see similar clean lines that Tom Ford is famous for.
Now who said Tom Ford had dropped off the planet?
Haven’t seen his store yet? Check out this YouTube….
