My name is Chrissie, and I have a dream. A dream where good clothes happen to good people, and not just for the poverty challenged. Sounds shallow, I know, but if you think you look great, chances are you feel great, and that is what I love most about fashion. Beauty does not discriminate to race, size, age, religion. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful.

This blog is a team effort between myself and my design genius who I call G. He’s the bomb and the real brains behind this project. He works hard to do all the complicated technical stuff, and I to bring you the content.

Our hope with Rags and Rouges is to bring you what you want to know about fashion that will help you feel more beautiful. This means news, cheap finds, product reviews, beauty tips, daily fashion tips, contests, and whatever else that is industry oriented that crosses my mind. (that could be anything!). While this blog will contain a lot of work in the fashion industry, it will also contain a lot of information on beauty as well. Hence our name — Rags and Rouges. Why spend $400 on a pair of shoes if your overall look needs some polishing?

I work from home in research and writing in my primary fields which are Psychology and Education. When not doing that I spend a ridiculous amount of time engrossed in the fashion industry. I find it fascinating, and no I haven’t always been like that. When I was in high school I was tall and thin and everyone expected me to play basketball. I did, in a word, I sucked. Then right as I was finishing University, someone asked me if I had ever modelled before. So I tried it out. And my love for fashion was born.

High fashion with couture labels and designers is my greatest interest. I collect, I drool, and I am fascinated by this dimension of creative expression. What I love most about fashion is the artistic nature of it. It is so ridiculously creative, abstract, and artistic, it defines the very essence of style. Just like every piece on the runway is unique, so is each person wearing it above and beyond the runway.

Style is not about what you look like on the outside, but how you feel about yourself on the inside. You don’t need to be draped in couture to feel fabulous. You just need to know what makes you feel fabulous, and when you’ve found that, there is noone more stylish than you. Just ask Sarah Jessica Parker, one of my favorite style icons. Nothing in her Bitten line is more than $20 bucks. And you know, she ALWAYS looks fabulous whether she is wearing Fendi or a pair of her own twenty dollar jeans. And you can too!

Got a burning fashion question? Need tips on something specific? Or wondering what product to use for that ‘perfect look’? Use our contact page or drop us a line at chrissie@ragstyles.com or leave a comment here. We love to hear from our readers! And no, your email will be used for nothing other than a point of contact so that we can respond to your query. We hate spam as much as we hate acid washed jeans!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
