Beauty Blast – Clinique Supporting the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Chrissie | Beauty, Charity, Contests | Wednesday, 31 October 2007

clinique-moisturizer.jpgWell lo and behold. We do have some Breast Cancer Awareness Work coming out of Clinique after all. The product they are featuring in their Breast Cancer Awareness campaign is the limited edition Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion that comes complete with 3 decorative charms – a silver C for Clinique, a miniature 3-Step Skin Care, and a Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Ribbon. $10 from each purchase will help to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s quest to find a cure. This moisturizer is an oil-free blend that works to maintain optimal moisture for combination skin, skins oily in the T-Zone, or oily all over. I am having a hard time finding a place online that sells this, but click hereto locate a store near you.

If you do not have a store near you, you may also want to check it out on eBay as I saw a few bottles floating around there as well.

But if you live in the continental United States, you can also enter Clinique’s Fight Against Breast Cancer Sweepstakes. Check that out!!

Fashion House Profile – Put Me in Coach Please!

Chrissie | Accessories, Coach, Designer Profiles, Fashion, Handbags | Wednesday, 31 October 2007

coach-exterior1.jpgReed Krakoff is the big wig designer over at Coach, aka Executive Creative Director which is the official title the big houses give to their design geniuses, and he is now taking Coach to a new level. It seems that the Coach label is not quite elite enough. For the super rich, Reed is opening a Legacy Boutique on New York City’s exclusive Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. This street is one that houses all the really good finds from all the major houses. If you are shopping here, you are probably doing so between your chauffeur’s errands for you as this is the clientele seen walking these sidewalks. The Coach Legacy Boutique will be the home to exclusive new pieces that are Coach original reworks. So think, vintage goes contemporary all in the same label. Coach will be taking archived designs and sleeking them up for the 2007 woman that has nothing else to do with her money. The designs will be created by the extremely elite Bonnie Cashin while Reed Krakoff runs the creative work on the boutique floorplan.

So what will you experience when you walk in this store? This store, which is a term that is nothing but an understatement, will be 1200 square feet and include custom made Coach furniture, an in-store concierge that can direct your shopping experiences on all of Bleecker, and your very own personal shopper that lives for a special request. Coach has also worked exclusively with the New York Landmark Preservation Committee to ensure the Legacy Boutique looks just as it did in the 1920’s. Buy a contemporary piece in a vintage atmosphere. Only at Coach.

And you know, I have to say I experienced some reverse sticker shock here. You can actually purchase Coach bags on eBay at times for the same prices you would find in the legacy store. So I was impressed, I was expecting more. For the experience of a personal shopper and in-store concierge, if I had the cash to treat myself, I’d buy a Coach bag from the Legacy Boutique.

Here are some pics of the big venture. Top Left — Interior (looks more boring than it sounds), Top Right — The Maddy ($398), Bottom left — The Emma ($298), and Bottom Right — The Anna ($198).

Beauty Blast – Nail Polish by OPI is ALSO Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

Chrissie | Beauty, Beauty Tips, Charity | Tuesday, 30 October 2007

poh_thumb_150.gifHere we go again. OPI is the next leader in cosmetics that is showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by showcasing a nail color dedicated strictly to the cause. And it can be found in no other more appropriate shade name than Pink of Hearts. I love this, I am always looking for a new pink shade, and OPI is FAIL SAFE with me no matter what color I use. This color has been created exclusively to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in its promise to end breast cancer forever. This year, OPI intends to donate $25,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure through the sale of these Limited Edition bottles. The color of pink is a very pretty shade for the cause as it is heartfelt, and hopeful. It represents the power of caring, and the power of women supporting women. I love it. I could tell you where you can find this online for $25 bucks, and OPI is seriously worth that money if you are looking for a 10 day no chip manicure. But honestly? I just grabbed a few bottles off ebay as I wrote this post for less than $5. So check it out, while this is Limited Edition, if you like pink, there is no shortage of the Pink of Hearts on eBay.

    Beauty Tip –
I use Revlon’s Color Stay Top Coat for my nails regardless of what brand I use to color them. It is called Stage 2 in the Revlon nail line, and is a clear laquer. To date this is the best top coat I have found, and believe me, I have tried many. I use my fingers all day long tapping away on this machine, taking batteries out of little boy trains and things, and this top coat always gives me a nice 10 day manicure. EVERY time. Try it.

Daily Fashion Tip — Donate to Breast Cancer Awareness With Payless Embrace the Cause

Chrissie | Charity, Cheap Finds, Daily Fashion Tip, Fashion, Shoes | Tuesday, 30 October 2007

payless-slipper.gifWell you know how I love to find people supporting this cause, I also love to learn when companies are doing so as well. And every little bit helps, it really truly does, never forget that. Here we have Payless. And while, I can not give you tips on what to wear with these or how to pair them, I can tell you that just by looking at them they look incredibly comfortable. What this means is Payless is ensuring you FEEL great after you have done something great by supporting a very worthy cause. These are the Embrace the Cause plush terry slippers. Ok, I’ve already admitted, I am a mush for pink things, so I love these already. And the lacing ribbon they have on them, just cute. But beyond that they look incredibly comfortable. Payless is going to donate $1.30 from the sale of each pair of limited edition pink ribbon slippers to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. They are guaranteeing a MINIMUM donation of $100,000. NOT ONLY that, but they are going to reward YOU with an additional $5 off if you spend $25 or more at Payless.com So you win either way, you get a coupon for shopping there, and you get awesome cozy slippers that are limited edition, and you ALSO get to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It doesn’t get better than this. And Payless feels the same way I do, Breast Cancer Awareness does not stop in November. So you have until February 29, 2008 to participate.

Fashion Tip – Pair these with your favorite robe, boxers, and a slouchy t-shirt or tank or whatever makes you feel great after a long day. You deserve it!

It comes filled with Bronze Goddess Soft Matte Bronzer–silky and luxurious, with a unique oil-control complex to keep skin shine-free and comfortable as well as a beautiful gold brush. You can also refill this with Lucidity Pressed Powder so that this is the gift that keeps making you feel beautiful forever.

pink-ribbon-gloss1.jpgpink-ribbon-swatch.gifWhat better gloss to smooth over your lips than one called Pink Ribbon to show your support.

More Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion – At COACH!

Chrissie | Accessories, Charity, Coach, Fashion | Monday, 29 October 2007

coach-watch.jpgSo we have VERY little time left in Breast Cancer Awareness month, so the next couple of days I am going to be throwing more things at you that you can purchase that will make you even more of a fashionista than you already are. If you go on to purchase these products, you will be a fashionista donating to the very worthy cause that we have been talking about – breast cancer awareness. I am amazed at how many labels are participating in these events one way or another. Today we are going to talk about Coach. Here you can find a few charming items that are not only pretty, but support a cause as well.

I love this Coach Bridle Classic Breast Cancer Awareness Watch. It features pink Swarovski crystals and a matching pink lizard strap. It comes in a gorgeous stainless steel case with Swarovski crystal markers and is water resistant up to 99 feet. Through the end of this year, Coach will be donating $100 from the sale of each of these watches to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

heart-charm1.jpgIf you are looking for something a little more affordable, try this BCRF Heart Charm. 20% of the proceeds from each charm sale will go to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and this comes in at only $38. This one features a very pretty pink heart along with the pretty breast cancer awareness ribbon on a 2 ½” dogleash clip.

bcrf-lanyard1.jpgAnd lastly from Coach is a BCRF Heart Charm Lanyard for $48. Again, 20% of the proceeds go towards the cause and this features a very pretty pink heart with crystals, the pink ribbon, and the Coach insignia attached. It also comes with a 1 ½” nylon cord that can attach to your cell phone if you so desire. This one would be very pretty on your key ring as well though I am thinking. ;-)

Blogging for Boobs – More News on Breast Cancer Awareness

    Chrissie | Announcements, Charity | Sunday, 28 October 2007

I have been hounding you all with my breast cancer awareness stuff ALL month long. I don’t need to state the obvious, but I will. Breast Cancer is a fact of life that extends beyond October. But Breast Cancer Awareness month only lasts 31 days. This is why we are extending our contest to extend not only awareness, but in the hopes of raising more money for this very worthy cause. I want to talk to you a little today about an amazing initiative hitting the blogosphere right now. It’s called Blogging for Boobs and if you run a blog, please make sure you make mention of this TODAY.

You can get a direct link to get more information by hitting the Blogging for Boobs button on the sidebar of THIS blog. I also suggest you check out the Blogging for Boobs blog on how to conduct your own breast self-examination (with some help from a YouTube video) as well as find out some pretty staggering facts – every 2 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, 12 minutes after that someone dies from the disease, 1 in 8 women WILL get breast cancer, MOST diagnoses have NO family history, and 400,000 lives are lost a year to this horrible disease. That’s right, almost half a million. Think of an average size metropolis in your area. One city. GONE from breast cancer every single year. Go to the Blogging for Boobs Website for more information, and then click on one of the buttons I am posting today to participate in this blogosphere-wide event.

Blogging For Boobs is an event that is hinged around the need to make people aware that they should regularly self-examine breasts for lumps or growths. Whilst men are susceptible to developing cancer of the breasts and should also self-examine, the much larger percentage of those afflicted with the cancer are women. Globally, approximately 1.5 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Don’t make the mistake in thinking that just because you are young you don’t need to worry about it. Cancer does not discriminate to age, sex, race, or religion. I’m 33 (ok, maybe for only a few more days) and I am a cancer survivor. Don’t become a statistic, become part of the event that is changing the face of breast cancer awareness.

I can only do so much in making YOU aware. But maybe you have a blog that other people are reading as well. Then you can extend the awareness by passing on the information of Blogging for Boobs to YOUR readers as well. It won’t cost you a penny, and you may actually help someone. It will take you five minutes of your time. Do it. Do it NOW!
